Pettit Prop Coat Barnacle Barrier 1792 is a fast-drying, zinc-rich protective coating specifically formulated for underwater metals and running gear.

Designed to bond directly to properly prepared bare metal, Prop Coat provides excellent corrosion protection while creating a smooth, hard, self-cleaning surface. Its dried coating contains an exceptionally high concentration of pure zinc, helping protect critical underwater metal components exposed to harsh marine environments.

Prop Coat can be used above or below the waterline and is suitable for a wide variety of metals commonly found on boats.

At 50°F / 10°C, allow approximately 2 hours before recoating and 4 hours before launching.

Dry & Launch Times – Aerosol

At approximately 70°F / 21°C:

  • Recoat: approximately 1 hour

  • Launch: approximately 24 hours

At cooler temperatures, additional drying time is required. There is no maximum dry time before launching.

Application

For maximum adhesion and corrosion protection, surfaces should be clean, dry and properly prepared before application. Remove contaminants, corrosion and loose material before coating.

Prop Coat should be applied evenly to the prepared bare metal. The aerosol version is particularly convenient for complex running gear, propellers and other components where conventional brush application may be difficult.
