Sea Hawk Hawk Epoxy F6 MicroSphere Fairing Filler is part of the Hawk Epoxy system and is formulated for applications requiring a lightweight, workable fairing compound.
When blended with properly mixed Hawk Epoxy R1 Resin and the appropriate Hawk Epoxy Catalyst, F6 thickens the epoxy to a white, lightweight fairing compound suitable for fairing both small and large surface areas.
F6 is designed to hold a feathered edge very well, making it suitable for smoothing, shaping and fairing applications where a gradual transition into the surrounding surface is required. Sea Hawk specifies that F6 is suitable for nearly every substrate.
The microsphere filler has a closed-cell structure, which can also be used to increase acoustic and thermal insulation.
As part of the Hawk Epoxy system, F6 can be used with any combination of Hawk Epoxy Resin and Catalysts.
First thoroughly mix the appropriate Hawk Epoxy R1 Resin and Catalyst according to Sea Hawk's instructions.
Mix the F6 filler thoroughly, then gradually blend small amounts of F6 into the mixed resin and catalyst until the desired consistency is achieved.
The amount of filler can be adjusted according to the required application and consistency. Sea Hawk notes that increasing the filler-to-resin/catalyst ratio generally increases sandability while reducing strength.
F6 is positioned toward the fairing and easier-to-sand end of Sea Hawk's filler selection range, rather than applications requiring maximum structural bond strength.
Sea Hawk specifies that all six Hawk Epoxy fillers can be used with any combination of Hawk Epoxy Resin and Catalysts.
